Night Burn

I've really never seen anything more beautiful than a burning forest at night, and am always excited to be extended to night shift on a wildfire even though I'll be dog tired by morning. This was a backburn we performed on the Miller Fire in the Gila Wilderness in 2011, and I couldn't resist stopping to take a shot of ponderosa trees glowing by the light of the fire.

Nice image Thomas, The blue of the sky is a great contrast to the warm tones of the fire.

Perfect environment shot. The sliver of sky works well. :toast:
I would prefer to see the anchor point of the ground in bottom right frame but the situation was a tough one and well done. :toast:

Very effective image of a beautiful but often deadly scene.
