I have hardly ever seen this bird before let alone managed to get a reasonable image. This was taken from a drifting boat on the Victoria Nile on our way to visit Murchison Falls, Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda

This is one of the finest shots I have seen from this species, mainly due to the BG - which is so different from the clean backgrounds we usually get to see. Hats of ! :toast: , hans

Bee eaters are gorgeous and this one is no exception. I've never seen one close up so this photo is very welcome. Great colours and a good out of focus but complimentary background. Nice one Ken.

Very beautiful bird - nice pose, detail, and very sweet BG.
Would a vertical crop work here? Maybe you didn't have the room on top.

Wonderful color scheme of a bird I have never heard of. Amazing diversity and colors of the birds you have been posting, way to go.

Beautiful, Ken. Wonderful colors and you have nice detail in the bird with enough dof to provide structure in the bg.

Thanks everybody for your kind comments, which are much appreciated.

Sandy,
I much prefer landscape crops and given that the BG worked out quite well I thought I would leave it in the original format albeit the crop is just below 50% of original size, so a vertical would be possible, I will take loook.
