Mt. Hood Wildflowers

This image was taken while I was on a Workshop in the area around Mt. Hood. It was extremely windy so I had to push my ISO to keep everything sharp. It has been a long time since I have been able to get out and shoot, very nice to be able to start back up in such a beautiful area. This is also one of the first opportunities I have had to photograph a REAL mountain:) Comments are welcome as always.

I think the right side of this is really where the interest is, and some crops could work. Better yet, a composition eliminating some of the left might be preferred. It's not too off-balance to enjoy though, as the rock anchors the foreground, but since most of the color and peak are pretty close to that right edge, I think getting the mountain a bit more towards center would increase the visual flow here and eliminate empty space.

Nice peaceful scene, Evan. Overall this is nicely composed. Although I like the variety of color in the foreground I can't help but think this might be stronger had you moved in closer to one of the flower groupings to place them more prominently in the foreground. The quality of light is beautiful and showcases the colors nicely.

Thanks for the comments, I agree with both of your comments. I will have to take another look at my RAW files and see if i have some with the peak closer to the center.

A gorgeous scene, Evan. I'm really enjoying this view overall. As the scene is established the only processing I might try for another look is select the cyan on the mountain and lower valley area for a drop in saturation or lighten it for another look. Regardless, a very fine image.

Looks like your enjoying the PNW. I like the variety of flowers showin in the foreground, though my personal preference would be to get up close to fill your foreground and avoid the buildings in the mid ground.

Lovely scene, with beautiful colors and groupings in the foreground flowers. I agree that as presented most of the interest is in the right 2/3rd. My thought is that taking a couple of steps to the right would have allowed the flowers to angle across the frame towards the peak on the right. I like the subtle colors in the clouds to the left of Mt. Hood and angling the flowers would keep them, but probably lose the interesting foreground rock...those are the choices that define personal style.
