Rufous Hummingbird

I make greeting cards from my photos and use them in business when I network and meet new clients. I am working diligently to get a Hummingbird "suite". While the shots I take will improve greatly when I transition into multiple flash, am working with single flash on a Better Beamer until I do. I set up a couple of blooming potted plants on the greenbelt behind my house and took this shot this morning.

Patrick,
I like this one, the colors and BG are very nice, good detail in the hummer's body. Seems like there would be less wing blur at 1/1250.
Well done :toast:

Good shot Patrick. I like the bg and colors. I also prefer the wing blur in this image as opposed to freezing the wings.

Patrick, I'm starting to become very envious of your hummingbird photos. Another lovely shot. Perhaps the crop is a bit tight but my eyes are certainly drawn straight to the bird's eyes. Nice contrasting colour from the flower.

Since you are setting up with pot plants, perhaps you might consider isolating just the flower(s) in your field of view.

Very cool, Patrick. I'm not sure if it's movement or focus, but the head is a bit blurred (I suspect it's movement). I really like the pose.

Wonderful shot Patrick ! The blurred wings were very much expected and I like it. I'm wondering if a faster shutter speed ( e.g. 1/2000 ) would make the head a bit sharper ? Still a beautiful image as it is. :toast:
