I love the lines and story in this; it's about the food chain. Great bokeh and color contrasts between red and green. I like the "rim lighting" on the edges of the blades; the leaves of grass, as it were.
But I had a thought and tried it out; B&W. If you desaturate this and then do a levels adjustment, moving the right slider in to the right edge of the histogram, and then move the center slider to make a final levels adjustment, you wind up with a clearer statement of the main message of your image, I think.

The first thing I saw was Pinocchio gasping, complete with eye, nose and mouth.
Interesting image with wonderful colors.

Charlie,
Not only a lovely image with great color and the selective focus/dof is wonderful, but this also tells a great nature story. Well seen, no nits from me.

Hi Charlie, Nice work here, and I enjoy the story it tells. The light and colors are wonderful and the soft background works so well.

Neat look, Charlie. I would like to see the tallest leaf a bit brighter in the top 1/3. The lighting, the munched leaf, and the background all work well. You tell a great story.

We sometimes look for the perfect plant/flower to shoot but often these damaged or dying ones tell such a better story. Great BG and good eye.

Thanks for all the suggestion and comments. I've processed this a number of ways and ended up using a vignette effect to direct attention toward the subject, (the insect eating result). The top of the long leaf is dark and I'll post later, when on my desktop a square crop that I like too. I'm always glad to have your inputs as seldom is there only one, best way, to present an image and i don't think of all of them.

Cool! I'd go with the original vertical--but crop a bit off the rhs to make it a true vertical.
