Merced NWR, CA last fall
When my arms tire from hand-holding that heavy 500mm, I pull out the macro lens and stalk smaller things.

For a sense of perspective, the horizontal leaf is about 1.5 inches long.

D800
70-180mm @ 180mm
Subject dist: 0.42m
1/80 sec, f/16
Mode: Av
Metering: Multi-segment
ISO: 320
White balance: Auto
Flash: Off
Braced on towel-covered rock (forgot to take my tripod)

Lovely pearl string Sandy. My artistic sense is a little weak but would do you think that a little more DOF to bring that large green leaf would have improved the picture? :toast:

Claude, I'm already at 1/16 and could barely get 1/80th. Without a tripod, this is the best Fstop I could manage without certain bluriness..

Sandy,
I wasn't criticizing, just testing my artistic sense. I understand that given the circumstances it was not possible to do. I still love the picture.

Sandy:

I really respect photog who can HH a 500mm!

Good eye to spot this. Love the reflection in the largest drop, a whole within itself.
