This was done in June of 2012. I certainly welcome comments and criticisms. Please remember the following when, or if, you choose to comment here.

1. I understand and realize that this picture was done in the middle of the day.

2. No tripod was used as I was walking up the trail to Ramona Falls.

Beautiful scene Jeff. I like how you've framed the mountain in the scene. I don't know if it's my laptop but the sky is an unusual blue and a lot of blue in the shadows. It could be my screen though. Nice image though.

I definitely like the composition and the view of the mountain you found here Jeff. My main critiques of the image are that the sky feels too dark and the contrast is a bit flat in the image, especially in the clouds. It kind of has an HDR feel to it, but I'm guessing you didn't use HDR techniques, since the image was handheld.

It's not an HDR in the multiple exposure sense but when people say they don't like an "HDR" look, it's almost never dynamic range they are referring to - it's tone mapping (which can be done from a single image). My critique here is just that. The image looks too tonally manipulated, with greens and blues that should be far darker than the white clouds, actually being brighter. The sky is very dark by comparison which makes the mountain stand out and I like that, even if it's not natural. The bottom below the snow looks kinda weird but I would suspect just some simple uniform darkening there in the mid tone especially would help it. Lastly, I think the lower level white clouds could be dodged up a bit in the whites, as they seem a bit muddy compared to the whites on the peak.

Overall though, some nice framing and atmosphere in this one. I think it's close but not quite there yet, personally.

I think it is a nice image! Well worth taking and posting here. I do see some post production improvements but way to go anyway! Mt Hood is spectacular! :toast:
