Incoming Storm

I took this shot about a year ago and it's definitely one of my favorites. I had tried so many times to get something decent from this spot but was hard getting the right getting the right conditions. With the tide being about the right size for this shot and the waves being pretty big because of the storm I new I wanted this composition so I got setup early and waited. As soon as the sun started breaking through the clouds things got really exciting but I had to wait the right waves as not all of them were fully getting over the shelf. Luckily a couple of them did and I was able to take this before the rays were smothered by the clouds and it started pouring rain shortly after.

I used a 3 stop reverse grad filter, single shot at F/11

Glorious shot Glenn wonderful water movement and great timing with a very realistic looking sunset. If anything I would say the grad was just about 1 stop too strong in relation to the detail in the sea and rocks.

Love this shot, Glenn. Now that I see it again, I'd be tempted to lighten up the sky a bit. Just a minor nit. Super sweet water and rays. :toast:

The sky is killer and the rock and water details pretty nice too. Impressive spot and your timing could not have been better.

Hi Glenn,
Marvellous scene, the sky really stands out to me, then when I look down at rocks that have been worn smooth by the water washing over them for..... ever, brings me into the picture even more. Great job!

I like the natural looking vibrance here, Glenn. I also like the balance between texture / motion in the water. To my eye your composition also holds some nice interest as well.
