A weathered rock surface at Moraine Lake, near Lake Louise, 5/25/2001. I liked the colors and patterns. Coolpix 900 1MP.

There's so much going on here, John, to feed the eye - wonderful variations in depth and colour as you range over it. Something like the best abstract paintings - it seems to invoke a world beyond itself.

This could easily pass for an abstract work of art if one was not told it was a rock surface. I like the shadings of the colors throughout and all the lines and textures. You found a great comp of this interesting rock surface, John. Very cool.

The colors work for me too, John, the blues offset the tan and brown nicely. The texture comes out very well, and I like how you centered the two cracks, which adds interest.
