Flakstad Beach at Dusk

Flakstad Beach, Lofoten, Norway

There were two beaches that were my favorite on this Transient Light trip, this one and Utakleiv. ....But then again I gravitate towards coastal scenes. The evening we were on this beach, the light and color was epic in my opinion. The colors are real.

While I received back some of my film images (19 rolls), I am still waiting for the images from this night. I split my film between two labs (19/20). One in Fort Collins, CO (I am very happy with their results) and the other in Dover, NH. The guy who runs the Dover lab has emailed several times on the progress and quality of the film shots. They are a smaller lab and process in smaller manual tanks. They were so impressed, they scanned two rolls gratis. Those films should arrive tomorrow or Monday. Anyway, thanks for having a look. I will share my film images shortly.

Beautiful light, Eva, with lots of interesting lines and textures. It's interesting how the top half of the composition is dominated by strong horizontal straight lines while the bottom half of the image breaks up this pattern (although there are hints of it throughout).

That hemisphere seems to have a look of it's own. Kind of gives me recall to my many travels along the Alaskan coastal areas. Truly looking forward to the film shots too.

The column of cumulus clouds in the distance is icing (no pun) on the cake for me. Repeating horizontal lines throughout make this a strong graphic. Beautiful shot, Eva!

This is wonderful, Eva. Beautiful light and color. The patterns and textures in the foreground look fantastic with that reflected color. :toast:

Real pretty shot, Eva! I ordinarily defend thirds--as you know--but here, the fg is so strong the top sky dilutes it--IMHO 1/6 sky would make this excellent photo a KILLER photo.

The colors are really sensational, Eva. The comp doesn't resonate with me as much as so many of your other coastal scenes... But it's still darn good! Can't wait to see more; I can feel the excitement in your comment.

Simply incredible. The light and color in the foreground is amazing. Really look forward to the film rendition of this.
You mentioned a lab in Fort Collins,CO. Must be DigiGraphics, who has always done superb work on my E6 4x5's. I see on their website the statement that they are still committed to E6 processing through 2014. Let's hope for longer than that.

This is an absolutely beautiful shot Eva. The color, patterns and textures are all there. Very well seen, and well captured.
