Sloth Bear

On my recent visit to India this was one of the animals on my wish list.
Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctaury ,Kanartaka ,India is the one of the best places to find the bears as for many years the Forest guards have put out treats on the rocks and the bears come down to find and eat them most evenings.A real bonus and I found almost as interesting as the bears were the amazing rocks and rocky formations around that part of the state.
Critique and comments always welcome .thank you for looking .

Suzanne,
Great to see someone else visiting Daroji, and even nicer to see that they are allowing people into the best area again.
As you say the rocks add so much, too the overall scene.

Beautiful animal, beautiful light and beautiful image, I must go back there :toast:

I really like the setting, something almost surreal about the scale of the glowing boulders, makes the bear look like a cub. I am struck by how clean everything looks, including the bear. Nice composition and the open mouth expression adds a little character to the main subject. Well done!

Hi Suzanne, having the larger version does make a huge difference and the viewer can appreciate the shot far more. I like the warm tones and the way the boulders almost curve round. Can I ask why you shot at f/4 as you had the SS so I think you could have increased the DOF which would have helped the subject and offer more detailed clarity. Also, did you add any cloning or work along the bottom LHS of the image, just looks a little fuzzy? Just curious.

Hi Steve,
I checked the original image, I had cloned out the head of a second bear .Guess I need to improve my cloneing technique Thanks for pointing it out to me. I shot at F4 as the light was going down pretty fast and the bear was moving ,and had upped the ISO to compensate for the fading light .Thank's for your comments ,it always helps. :toast:

The rocks are indeed very interesting and the bear's pose, with tongue out, really makes it the center of attraction.

Really nice setting. The subject is well presented. I would never known that you had cloned unless I was told.

Beautiful photo of this unique species Suzanne  The large version is a must see. Looks like you captured adequate detail. I really like the habitat too.

A very pleasing composition.
