Bald eagle - Haliaeetus leucocephalus -

Taken, during 2012, in the harbor of Valdez (Alaska) when fishermen came back. We hope to travel again to Alaska!!!

EOS 5D mark II, Sigma 500 mm

Lovely eagle shot, Joana. The whites look a bit on the bright side, but I suspect some darkening overall would take care of that.

Hope you didn't have any trouble pronouncing Valdez the way Alaskans pronounce it! : not exactly Castillian.

Joana: You've captured a very nice pose with a wonderful background to complement the eagle. The issue for me is the processing of the whites. As posted, they are blown with little or no detail. Maybe you have detail in the original RAW file to recover them. Certainly worth the effort with such a nice shot other than that.

Like the detail and sharpness of the eagle, except for the whites, as noted need to be darkened a bit. Also like the OOF BG. Hope you do get back to Alaska. Thanks for sharing.

A very good capture. My issue goes beyond the white; I think you have the entire bird a bit too bright/oversaturated. The eagle's back is dark grey/brown. Your photo shows a chocolate color. I think it's the same problems as your whites that Keith notes. If it were mine, I'd reprocess from the RAW image and try get details in the whites and darken the wings and backs.

Sweet flight action capture of this beauty Joana. The wing position is very pleasing. I hopeful the white's are fixable too.

Great flight shot, Joana. I'd like to see a larger version to appreciate the great detail in the wings.
