While visiting family in Tallahassee last week my nephew took us out on his boat down the St. Mark's river. I spotted this pelican hanging around a pier as we returned and captured this image-

D3s
70-200mm f/2.8
1/2500s @ f/6.3
ISO 200
-1 1/3 EC
Matrix
HH from the boat.

Very nice Chuck,
This is a Cool image, the overall darkness and that evil stare gives a sinister feel. The colors and detail are excellent and the Mohawk hair style is outstanding.
Well Done . . . :toast:

For me, the same thing came to mind immediately. Sort of a "The Pelican from the Black Lagoon" feeling. A bit different.... I like it. :toast:

I love how well the darker water contrast with the bird plumage. Wonderful detail and the reflection a definite plus. Well done Chuck!

A very different perspective with this one Charles, quite moody IMHO, like it.

If it was me, I would be tempted to darken the overall top half, add a Curves adjustment just to lift the subject only a fraction more, avoiding blowing the crown of the bird. In this way it will help separate the subject and give more presence to it, stand out more. Nice one. :toast:

I really like this as posted Chuck. The reflection of the head adds interest for me. I might clean up the one bright object on the water right in front of the bird.
