I really like this concept, Howard. While my monitor isn't calibrated, I found it helpful to look at a levels adjustment where the center slider is moved to the left. This makes the eyelashes visible, for example, and I think the eye is the focus. Could be just my monitor.

Hi John,
I have my monitor set at 70% brightness. There will always be slight differences from monitor to monitor..
Try looking at the image on my website for comparison with a solid black BG, the eyelashes look good to me there.
