Interesting Structure

This was taken at one of the botanical gardens near Corpus Christi, Texas. I do not know the name of the plant (but would like to if anyone knows what it is). I thought the structure of the blossom was very unique.

Canon 7D
Canon 24-105 f4

C&C welcome.

LeRoy: Don't recall you posting here before so welcome to the finest Flora gallery on the planet. An interesting bloom indeed. I'm not familiar with it so hope others can help with the ID. This is pretty harsh light but you handled it fairly nicely. Also like you comp. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more. >=))>

It is a cool flower structure, LeRoy. I'm afraid I don't have a clue what it might be.

I think this could be substantially improved by a square crop from the left edge, cropping out the OOF highlights on the right. Also the harsh shadows/highlights could stand to be toned down. I don't know the plant, but it looks like it could be in the Magnolia family.

LeRoy:

Welcome to Flora Gallery.

Very interesting bloom indeed. As others have commented, the light is rather harsh. There are a few things one can do in this situation; wait or come back and shot in early morning or sundown, use a diffuser and or polariser.

Look forward to seeing more of your post here.
