Purple Finch

I'm pretty sure this is a Purple and not a House Finch. This is another from my rainy afternoon in the blind the other day. The wet plumage really brought out the red.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL, Black Widow head mounted to blind window, f7.1, 1/80, iso 1000, Av mode with no compensation. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 8.2 MP. Taken May 22nd at 2:54 pm.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Very nice. We have a large amount of House Finches in this area and they look very much alike. Ours are more bright red without the purple cast.

Sweet photo of this poor water soaked beauty Dennis  I like the texture in the feathers too.

Love the color and detail captured on this finch. The OOF BG is also a plus. Nice job!

Really nice color and detail in this Dennis. I have never seen one of these in person, but feel like I have now with this shot. Thanks for sharing!

Great detail and BG. Colors are very nice! I do think you could crop tighter if you wanted to without taking away from this image. Sure would like to see one. Thanks for sharing.

Well done on this image Dennis,
The detail and colors really pop against that BG and the pose is excellent. I to have not seen one of these in the wild. Your blind time is well spent as always . . .
