This small group of Elephants were happy to meet us in Kidepo National Park Northern Uganda, where the population is recovering well from being quite near to Somalia.

I think that this is an instance where high contrast and elevated sun position work, especially in terms of the texture of the elephants' trunks. Composition-wise having three trunks elevated like this is also pretty cool, I think.
Since you were dealing with a relatively planar subject at some distance, f/6.6 appears to have pretty much nailed a DoF that isolates the elephants well.

John,
Thanks very much, the F stop is yet another of my many typos it should be F5.6. which I find to be ideal with this lens when the BG is not too close

Good grouping, Ken, well executed. My only wish would have been to ask the big guy on the right to raise his trunk in harmony with the others!
Thanks for posting!

Lon,
The big guy is a lady , I actually prefer the non raised trunk purely for the difference it brings.
Richard,
Elephants have that ability they are always a great subject
