Ostrich

I find Ostrich to be difficult to capture as the body is so much larger than the head. I was lucky last year when in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa a group of extremely hot birds came quite close to my car (the exif says 6 metres).
The red colouring in the feathers is from the extremely read earth in this park,

Nice shot Ken. Lovely expression and great detail.
I have to say I am so used to seeing Ostriches - our valley is full or ostrich farms - I rarely try to photograph them and sometimes forget they are birds too. Certainly a bit larger than a hummingbird.

Nice portrait Ken, I love the expression on the Ostrich, excellent details in the neck, head and bill. I do wish for a little more light in the eye, but overall a very fine shot.

Excellent portrait, Ken. I might be tempted to go with a bit more vertical comp.

Nice detail. I agree that lightening the eye would help.
