Uttakleiv, Lofoten, Norway

An abstract from my favorite beach in the Lofoten Islands, Norway taken on a Transient Light Workshop.

Sorry I have not been around commenting lately. I have been pretty busy getting a slide show together for my Mom-in-law, Pat's memorial service last weekend and getting framed images together for my solo show at the First Bank in Boothbay Harbor this weekend (for June and July). Pat was instrumental in getting me involved in the Boothbay Region Art Foundation who sponsors the bank shows as well as The Maine Photography Show (which I won 3rd place this year for my abstract "Celestial") . As I sit and look at her empty chair tonight, I am sure she would have loved to have been at The Maine Photography Show opening, see my display at the bank as well my Lofoten images but maybe she already has.....

Pentax 67II
Pentax 45mm
Polarizer
Fujifilm Velvia 50
Epson V750 Scan

Thanks again for having a look.

Eva: Well seen . This is very cool. Did it wink at you? If it did I'm glad you escaped. Marvelous shot. >=))>

Looks like a bullfrog half submerged in a pond. Well seen Eva!

Eva, I really enjoy these landscape closeups that get us looking in all corners to make sure we understand a bit of what we're seeing. A fine abstract from this POV with what looks to be a bit of a cascading area coming in from the ulhc too. The isolated view of the FG encapsulated rock is a find in itself. A highly polished gem there. The hints of red / magenta from the V-50 is perfect in this capture too.

Wild Eva, just wild! What a terrific find and wonderful natural abstract. I do have a couple suggestions though. Similar to Nancy Lea's recent image, the bit of grass/moss/green in the URC brings me back to reality. I think a crop from the top helps to maintain the abstract look. Also, and this is a personal preference, I might increase the contrast, drop the darks in and around the rock in the pool; mostly the rock and below. I'm guessing it's just the way the light is hitting combined with the polarizer, but I think it needs a little contrast in that area. No biggie though.

What a fascinating place with seemingly endless opportunities from the big landscape to the intimate.

That red eye is very disconcerting and works great juxtaposed with the green algae covered rocks. Did you try a shot with the 45mm lens using the eye in the foreground and the mountains at Uttakliev behind I reckon that would have worked well too.

Wonderful abstract Eva. Looks a bit like a frog sticking out of the water. Great find and very nice colors to this.

Terrific abstract and very well named, especially so in the larger version. I love the array of shapes and color arranged in a sort of zig-zag pattern running from front to back. The composition gives a strong impression of depth, running off into the distance in both of the upper corners.

Once more for a crop off the top, but I do like this very interesting abstract.

Love the design of your abstract, Eva; the 'eye' is a great title and that element of your composition most definitely captures the viewers eye, but still allows for exploring the fascinating shapes and textures throughout. I'd also vote for a slight crop across the top, to eliminate the upper right hand wedge of algae or seaweed. Either way, this is excellent. Very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother in law; sounds like one very special lady. All the best with your solo show.

Eva, fantastic find. If you did a 16 x 9 crop removing the top you would have a turtle abstract..
