From earlier this spring, captured at beach on west Galveston Island. I witnessed and photographed this territorial battle between two male Willets for about 20 minutes. Handheld while kneeling on beach to get as low as I could and still track the wide ranging action.

1DX, 600II, 1.4TC, f8, 1/1600, ISO 800

Cropped to vertical - 40% of original

C&C welcome

Stellar image with amazing action - catchlight on the eye, soft background and sharp focus where it needs to be. REally can't get any better than this

You certainly got an interesting spat documented. Image is definitely an action shot. Detail held up well despite the large crop. Guess that's the benefit of a state of the art camera. Nice composition, good colors, and pleasing FG and BG.

Randy,

Great shot hand-holding on your knees is no fun, but worth it for this great image :toast:

Cool! I spend a lot of time on the coast photographing shore birds and have never seen this behavior. Very nice.

Super shot Randy. The low perspective works really well and the background contrasts beautifully with the willets. Nice and sharp. A keeper. :toast:

Great action, Randy, and the relative positions of the two birds with the raised wings of the upper makes a beautiful composition. Well done.
