Waterfall - Costa Rica

by Keith Bauer

Gallery: LandscapePosted June 5, 2013368 views19 comments
This is another frame from my recent workshop in Costa Rica. A return visit to the falls where I captured the image I posted here titled Waterfall Ghost. I find this particular waterfall a fascinating place to capture etherial images.

The larger version of this certainly shows much more detail. Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Techs:

Canon 5D Mark III
70-200 f/4 L IS @ 169mm
3.2 seconds @ f/16
ISO 100
Full Frame

This made me smile. The tones are wonderful, especially the whites. You might consider bringing down the blacks just a wee bit.

My only other complaint is that I wasn't there with my 4x5!

Nicely done, Keith,

Beautiful comp and detail Keith! I agree with Preston about the blacks, but that's very minor. Well crafted image!

A meditative feel with the curtain of water and hint of rocks. Your unusual crop makes it even more eye catching.

This is wonderful, Keith. The horizontal format is perfect for showcasing the vertical cascades of the waterfall. Great choice on the SS BTW.

Keith,

Fantastic job of isolating this wonderful image. Simple, graphic and beautifully seen! I might agree with Preston on the blacks, but that's just a minor tweak - and personal preference.

Nailed it Keith!!! Said "wow" from the thumbnail. :toast: The one minor thing I did pick up, is that there is a dust bunny or water spot just to the left of center, about the top of the frame. It's more noticeable in the larger image, but can also be seen in this version as well.

Just a beautiful capture from what has to be a gorgeous place to visit.
