Spider bat??

I think I discovered a new species! Well. . .it actually is an Orchard Orbweaver spider. They hang out under their web in the center, waiting for insects to fly into their web. This was taken top down so this is a view of the "underbelly of the beast". I had lots of fun editing this one. I edited out most of the web except for the "wings" and left the highlights to look like eyes. The "eyes" and "nose" are actually its mouth. This is a crop of about 15% of the original. I thought the frame helped give a sense that this scary critter is peeking in the window. To give a sense of size perspective, these little spiders are only about 1/4-1/2 inch long.

Canon EOS 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/10 for 1/80 sec. ISO 1000. Tripod mounted, flash fired.

Well done, Carolyn, although it looks more like a catpider to me. Brings back memories of the end of the movie "The Fly" (the original; I'm old) when the flyman was caught in the spider web.

What really cool look at this spider, Carolyn! The highlight eyes and the web "wings" are wonderful additions. Sure would make a great horror movie poster.

An interesting composition, Carolyn. Quite a lot for an ordinary spider. Good eye and imagination!

This is so cool. What an imagination to think about this and then to process it. Thanks for sharing.
