Shooting sun set on Emigrant Lake in Oregon a few days ago, This fellow/gal just came right up to within 20 feet of me. I had been watching the big ears going back and forth and wondered why. It was fly swatting the insects with these extra large ears.

Good one, Rick. You've taken advantage of the mule deer trait of being more tolerant of people than white-tails. She gave you a nice pose and you've got a nice setting for her to be in. A little less DOF might have allowed her to stand out from the BG. She looks like she might be a little heavy in the belly. Should be about time there to drop fawns.

Rick,
Very nice "curious" pose, on my monitor it looks just a little too dark, maybe a touch of shadow lifting in shadows and highlights might do the trick.
I would also consider toning down the white patch above the head

She looks a bit surprised Rick  . Good full body portrait with a perfect pose and nice catch lights. The bright spots are distracting though, and I would suggest to tone those down.

Nice lookin' doe Rick, ya gotta love those big ears & eyes seen this close..
Good eye contact & details.
Also good to know those ears not only hear a great distance, but come in handy for swiping those pesky flies too
Well done my friend :toast:
