This evening was filled with great light. I took this about 20-30min before sunset, and the light was already coming together, filling the area with golden light. This is the same tree, if you haven't already noticed, as in the last post. I kept the processing as natural as I could, resisting the temptation to oversaturate the incredible light. Hopefully it looks natural to all of you, because as you all know, when processing an image for a while, one loses the eye for what's right and what's off. Now a good time to say, "comments and critiques welcome!".

This is a blend of two images, and that mostly for dynamic range. While I was at it, I did focus on different areas in the frame for some bonus DOF and sharpness. As for the actual processing, I merged the two images by hand, then opened up the shadows a touch, tweaked the contrast to where I felt was natural, and finally did some dodging/burning. BTW, I'm so glad that when working in RAW, it takes care of the chromatic aberration, as there was a TON, up on top (I was zoomed way out). Anyways, enough of my comments... Let's hear yours now...

Canon 60d 10-22mm
ISO 100 --- f/13 --- 2 exposures --- tripod --- no filters

Thanks, and View Large!

To be completely honest, I thought I was going to be underwhelmed. Boy was I wrong! This is very well crafted and executed. The exposure looks perfect to me and the light is sweet.

Looks wonderful, Nathan. I sure do like the gentle light, how the flowers and the fallen branch lead to the main tree with all its details and the glimpse into the distance on the right. Looks like a terrific spot to sit and contemplate.

Thanks, everyone...

Mark---This definitely is a tree one could just sit and admire for a long time. Just before I took this image, some other visitors were just standing beneath it looking up at the dynamic branches!

This has a wonderfully nostalgic feel of times when climbing trees and watching clouds drift by were the top priority of the day.

Nathan,

I didn't immediately notice this was the same tree, but now that I know, it's pretty apparent. ;-)

Excellent job capturing and processing this for that light. Color/sat is excellent throughout. This is beautiful and wonderfully well crafted. Great job.
