Savannah Sparrow

Fresh from the backyard pond. I was a bit further from the subject than I like for this small a bird, so this is a largish crop. However, I liked the bg.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f7.1 (I shifted to f9 later with better results on the legs, but less interesting bg), 1/3200, iso 640, Av mode with -2/3 stop compensation. Processed in CS6. Cropped to 4.73MP. Taken June 9th at 7:56 pm (sunset is around 8:45 now).

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

I like little savannah's and besides a really nice pose/shot of the bird ..... that background is over the top for a avian BG. Great job Dennis.

Beautiful shot Dennis. The subtle colors of the sparrow stand out from the out of focus fronds in the background

Great image. I like the way the background frames the bird and the structure it provides. Interesting perch too.

I like this a lot because of the bg, as it makes a very nice woodland setting. Nice perch and bird, too! Sharon

Excellent. Great pose, setting and background. It held up well to the crop.
