Sunburst

I was trying to get some images of a bunch of slightly red tinted California Poppies with red snapdragons in the bg yesterday morning, when the sun unexpectedly emerged from the clouds ad gave me all kinds of highlights in the flowers from the previous night's rain. I don't know if they're too much of a distraction from the main subject, but I liked the intense summer feel this one produced.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod, f11, 1/400, Av mode with -2/3 stop compensation, iso 320. Processed in CS6. A slight crop to eliminate the edge of another poppy that crept in on the lower left side. Taken into the morning sun at 7:38 am on June 13th.

Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Dennis - Love the bokeh ! and the dew/rain covered poppy. I think the right corner distracts a wee bit but not sure of the options you had to avoid the flowers+strong highlights there.

Very colorful, Dennis, and the dew and sparkles certainly give this a refreshing, lively mood. it would have been good to see before and after sun versions for comparison. I tend to agree with Ram about the highlights in the LRC. I'd probably clone the real bright ones to the left of the stem below the main flower and try to burn the others in the LRC.

Lively and colorful with a gorgeous bokeh! Might turn down the light quite a bit in the rlc, though; it's really glaring there so close to the subject flower. Perhaps a technique that would render it more like the rest of the bg? Other than that part, I really love this, Dennis.

Dennis: I like this a lot just as it is. The sparkle in the BG really sets off the main subject. Delightful image.>=))>
