Trempealeau
by John Clulow
We just got back from three days in Trempealeau, Wisconsin; train horns every half hour or quarter hour, day and night, waking one up until one gets used to it, a result that happens supprisently quickly.
This image was seen from our exclusive, private deck at Room 30 of Little Bluff Inn. I was thinking of my composition teacher, Willard Clay, while sipping a glass of Merlot wine near sun set looking out on the wide Mississipi River in between trains.
This place is exactly like the small town I grew up in in the 1950's, only it's not there now in Ohio anymore. But it is there in Trempealeau now.
