5-18-13 Taken at Institute Woods Preserve in Princeton, NJ
On a very dark morning when I was unable to find anything to photograph since all the birds were at the top of tall trees, this fellow was kind enough to perch on a lower branch and posed for a while. Unfortunately I was shoot steeply and when I tried to back up to get a lower angle, he was obscured by intervening branches.

A good capture in these circumstances Patrick, flash effect is apparent and whites are darkish but capture is sharp and BG is nice. :toast:

Whites are a little bit hot; maybe selective lowering the exposure in that area only would help. These are difficult birds to expose well with the blocks of red, white, and black. It is a beautiful grosbeak and I like the little puffed out wing. Sharon

Patrick, very nice grosbeak well captured. The whites look fine on my screen (iPad).
