I got up 4 days in a row to get this shot. I was a fool and didn't have my gear on me the first time I saw the double rainbow over the pier and had to settle for an iPhone shot.

So I went back the next 4 days in hopes of it happening again. I was shooting with the 16-35mm and the distortion is crazy. I have been trying to put together a pano but stitching it has been hilarious. I'm guessing that I'm going to end up having to manually put it together.
And yes, the rainbow was insanely bright. The most vibrant and intense colors I have ever seen. No polarizer for this one. Was pretty amazing to witness

5 commentsThis is a very pretty shot. The rainbow is amazing, and it seems you captured it very well.
Due to the pier and boats, this should be posted in Man and Nature.
What a tremendous rainbow! I can tell that it would be pretty bright and no doubt a special moment to have experienced it.
Yeah, the distortion is a little wild, but still an amazing capture.
As Brad mentioned, this is an image for the Man & Nature gallery, so I'm going to move this after posting my comment. Let us know if you have any questions.
thanks for sharing this one!

I infer from your comment about not using a polarizer (and from having read such) that you expect that the rainbow could have been enhanced by using a polarizer. My experience is that a polarizer can erase a rainbow rather than enhance it, but my technical knowledge on this particular issue is wanting.
This is as terrific a rainbow photo as we ever get to see, Your diligence certainly paid off.
