Black Oak Spring

Thanks for the feedback on my previous image. Here we have, yes, another tree. This one isn't on my radar against my best and favorite tree images, but I like it enough; simple and I like the structure of the tree lost in the spring greens. Still in Happy Isles, Yosemite.

Thanks for any comments and feedback.

Thanks!

I'm really enjoying this, Lon! Your comp works perfectly and the colors are wonderful. Looking at all the fantastic detail is a real treat in your larger version. For me this is a beautiful image so well done. I guess I probably would not change a thing. :toast:

I'm a tree person, so I like this. A lot! Good color and detail.

Lon,

I echo your thoughts on this photo as well. I will say that it needs to be seen big to really appreciate it though for all the detail that is there.

Beautiful image, Lon. Might be my old eyeballs, but it looks a bit blue to me. Shocking to see you making a Yosemite tree image that is NOT in El Cap Meadow. Simply shocking.

Another really fine spring greens & tree shot. That main trunk and it's branches really pull this together. Yes, the larger version is much better.

Lon, Very nice composition, great eye for seeing this structure in the tree. If I had anything to change I might pull the greens back a little bit, they are not over the top by any means but I think it might focus the viewer in the texture and shape a bit more. They're also might be a blue cast.

I like how the trunk gives just enough structure to the image to hold it together. Also, the different levels of branches makes a nice pattern to let ones eyes 'climb' up to the top of the frame. IMO, as you already hinted at, I don't feel this stands with your other work, as far as subject and light goes, but still enjoy this one nonetheless.

Lon, the trunk and branches make for a nice structure while the delicate foliage adds a beautiful pattern. I would certainly love to see it as a large print to enjoy all the details.

You definitely have an eye for creating calm compositions from the chaos of nature. What really makes this image work is the pinkish brown tree bark when combined with the delicate green leaves. I think this image would do especially well when presented in a book along with many of your other tree images.

The design of the tree trunk and branches against the canvas of greens and blues in the leaves works so very well, Lon. Beautifully done. The larger image must be viewed to fully appreciate.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. Good call on the color changes. I'll remember to tweak this before it gets on my website. Appreciate your thoughts very much.

I like the veil of leaves here, Lon. There's a translucency here the makes the shape of the trees and branches more alluring.

Yeah, lots of lovely greens with nice hints of reds. Lovely structure to the shot too. I would probably see if a brighter version worked, but I like this one a lot as is :-)
