This crab spider (female Misumena vatia) was waiting for the first prey of the day.

Thanks for your passage and comments.

Very nicely done, Daniele and Loana. I like the soft light and the sharp details. Excellent pose with the legs spread out like wings. After seeing this and the crab spider that I had missed in my photo, I know that I will be looking under white flowers from now on! I see you have the Sigma 150 and the 2.0x. I also have the 150 and the 1.4x, and I am thinking of getting a 2.0 for a larger working distance. Any thought on the 2.0 vs. the 1.4? I'm not concerned about any potential autofocus issues. Roger

Looks like she's ready to give birth with that large abdomen.
Very nice! :toast:

Excellent image! The detail on the spider is very fine, and the flower nicely-blurred to allow the eye to focus on the spider.
Sweet BG, too -

Great find and image, D&L. Excellent detail on the crab spider, and good job isolating the spider and flower. I'd be tempted to crop a little off the top to reduce the overall bg volume, eliminate the brown spot in the URC, and bring the spider up higher in the frame. Very subjective, of course. Excellent as is. :toast:

Thanks for the kind comments.
Roger I think that 2x is quite useful, particularly with FF cameras and with shy subjects. The AF will not work, but that's not an issue for macro shot.

Thanks D&L for the 2x info. You sure get great results with it. I'm looking for more working distance and I might get one. Roger.

Great catch on this little predator. I see them catch amazingly large insects like small butterflies regularly. I like the nice arc of the stem and your dof choice.
