Last Barn Owl & repost

This is the same bird I posted yesterday, but this shot was taken from the ground looking up at the box (maybe 14 feet in the air) and a bit earlier. The box blocked part of the owl so I chose to do this as a portrait. The youngsters have all fledged. Last night and this morning they did not appear when there was sufficient light to photograph them, so I doubt I'll have any more opportunities with this clutch.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f5.6, 1/50, iso 1600, Av mode with +1/3 stop compensation (another 1/3 stop added in ACR). This is mostly cropped from the sides with just a hair off the top resulting in an 8.8MP final size. I also added a touch more light to both eyes. Taken yesterday on a cloudy/misty morning about 15 minutes after dawn(5:26 am).

I always appreciate your comments and criticisms.

Thanks for looking,

Nice shot with fine details in what looks like low light indeed. The larger version appears slightly brighter to me, and perhaps a bit warmer. Very nicely done.

Great close-up Dennis, a bit dark (to preserve the blue in the sky?) but very minor fix. :toast:

Nice portrait. I like the little downy feathers coming out! Sharon

Somehow this image seems to get brighter to my eye the larger I view it. I finally decided after reading comments to reprocess it. I brightened it almost a full stop and changed the color temperature a bit to warm it. Here's the result, and thanks for the input.
