Deer Fern

Gallery: FloraPosted June 29, 201334 views4 comments
These are the spore bearing fronds of the deer fern which it project upright, whereas there is also a rosette of differently formed fronds that handle most of the photosynthesis. I liked the layered arrangement of these. Taken in a temperate rain forest all of 15 minutes from our prairie.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, f7.1, 1/30, iso 400, Av mode with no compensation. Processed in CS6. Full frame. Taken yesterday in shaded forest at 2:02 pm.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Excellent job with the composition Dennis, beautiful color and detail, also really like the soft bg. Beautifully seen and presented.

I enjoy the composition Dennis. I'd like to see one without the party crasher.

I don't know which I like more-- the featured fern or the purple iridescent bug taking a stroll on it! Great comp, Dennis. I too enjoy the fronds coming together. Looks like a gesture of solidarity and friendship.
