Another in the Painted Hills series, this one tells a tale of erosion. And there's just something about triangles... I love looking at them...

John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Mitchell, OR.
Panasonic GH3, 100-300 G Vario, tripod, cpl; f13, 1/125, ISO 400.

Thanks for viewing. Comments appreciated.

Interesting take on the painted hills. I've shot about every square inch of that place, but I'm having a hard time figuring out where this one was taken!

Judging by the direction of the shadows, I think it may have helped to wait several hours for the Sun to create more depth and detail in the brush and hills as it lowered a bit. Assuming this was afternoon. If morning, then several hours earlier.

Thanks for the comments. So right-- time shot: 12:18:14; weather: mostly sunny. I understand about the early morning and early evening hours for shooting, but I don't have the luxury of being out during those times. And it's only one style of making photographs... a good one, for sure, but not prerequisite to a better than decent photo. If I'm mistaken on this, please everyone chime in and correct me!

**EDIT** UGH! NEVER MIND. I get it. Okay comp. Flat light. You're right.

I like the angular composition. An interesting view. Composition-wise, this is excellent.

Catherine, I like your comp on this image and you have a nice base of color and even tone. I think you could bring out more depth and color with just a change of contrast using levels. Just an idea but maybe worth a try. Chet
