Here is another angle for the center of the Pricklypoppy. I like this, but I would like to get some other opinions on the image. Thanks for you comments.

Canon 40D
Sigma 17-70
Manual
Shutter 1/160
Aperture f13
ISO 400
70mm
Tripod
Some brighting, contrast, sharpening and cloning out some distracting spots.

Beautiful, Richard. I like the in-focus parts of the petals leading into the explosion of stamens.

I think the symmetry works well, Richard. What I like about this subject are the curly stamens, and the comp puts the focus right there. Nicely exposed for the light as well.

Richard - I like this too but not over the previous version. I am not a fan of putting slightly OOF elements in the beginning of the frame but thankfully it seems to work in your favour here. The erect center pollen structure looks much better in this version than the previous.

Richard, it definitely works for me, excellent light, color and detail in the center of the flower, right where it belongs. Very nice indeed.

I think this is the perfect composition for this scene, an intimate and somewhat uncommon view. Well done.

The center sharpness is excellent and you've framed it well with the oof foreground curve. I would toy with cropping from the bottom so that the bright oof foreground edge hits the frame, but I'm not convinced that such a crop would be an improvement.
