Here's another shot from our Thailand trip last year. This was photographed on Beung Borapet, a large lake in Central Thailand that teams with birds. The pink flowers are water lotuses which fill parts of the lake and make great settings. This species is closely related to our Cattle Egrets. At rest they look mostly brown but when they fly the reveal white wings. This was taken from a boat, I cloned out one oof bird in the bg.

Great one Nate - of course well done on the techs, but the pose makes the image for me. I have seen many of these while in Thailand, but rather shy and not that easy to get a nice and 'alternative' shot ! :toast: , hans

Never seen this species before Nate and think it looks pretty cool. Love the low angle, the foot on the Lilly pad, outstretched wings...really not anything to not like here. Great work!

Great pose, Nate, and a great angle. I do wish that darn dark blotch weren't behind the dark beak.. Perfect dof for this subject.

Lovely shot, and the red gives it an unusual quality. The bird looks as if it is running across a lake filled with hot water.

A very nice capture of an unusual bird; looks like a cross between a Cattle Egret and a Green Heron. Impeccable techs.

Beautiful detail in wings and feathers, and such an interesting pose. The pond lilies are a pretty addition.
