Fireworks

Since others have handled the red, white, and blue, I thought I'd add some fireworks. Conditions were far from ideal for floral photography yesterday, but I decided that I might as well blow some electrons on playing with wind and light in the garden. This is probably my favorite result. It's just backlit Day Lily blowing in the wind. I tried (laughably) to get a decent focus on the stamens, but deliberately went for the motion blur.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro with circular polarizer, tripod (like that made any difference). f11, 1/25, iso 320, Av mode with no compensation, full frame. Processed in CS6 with some detail enhancement in Topaz detail that helped bring out the motion streaks a bit better. I considered this for photo art, but they seem to keep that for post processing play and I didn't do any significant work outside the camera.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

This works great as a substitute fireworks display. Great color and light and a good sense of movement.

I like the "dragon" that the stamen created and, of course, the sense of motion.

Tripod does make a difference. This way we know the flower did all the "firecracking"! I love it. Brave to post it, it is so out of box. Makes you a flora gallery hero. Well, to me, at least. :toast:
