I believe this is a tiger swallowtail butterfly that was visiting my wild daylilies. Another floral/macro combo. This time I put it in the macro gallery.

Canon 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/3.5 for 1/500 sec. ISO 500. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Gorgeous, Carolyn. Beautiful light/contrasting orange on green colors. I've never seen a swallowtail dive so deep into a flower like this. Quite a capture! :toast:

Absolutely gorgeous color combo. I particularly like the contrasting dark areas. Very Artistic.

That is indeed a Tiger Swallowtail and it's amazingly deeply buried in your day lily...must have been really hungry. No way to ask it, but I am curious how the BF got in there without breaking that strand of silk. You captured a great combination of colors and the bright area in the background fits well with the area of interest. Nicely done.

This is very pretty and rare. I did not know that swallowtails feed on these flowers.

Carolyn - Cool shot. Nice to see the Swallowtail buried inside the flower for the most part. Have not yet seen a single Swallowtail here but they will come sooner than later as the temperatures continue to go up.
