"I really dislike photographing peoples faces if I can so I am always on the hunt for interesting shadows."
And then there's that annoying photo release thing
Great eye for the shot Lorna, the well defined dark shadow makes this shot come alive! :toast:

Excellent! I really like the balanced composition, the legs and shadow compliment each other nicely. The desaturated presentation works well, too. Very nicely done.

Thanks guys, I have one with a more separated shadow which I like more but the skirt did not have the same great flare so this was the one !

Lorna,

This is excellent! what a great image and story. Honestly, I didn't notice the shadow at first because the legs, skirt, colors and patterns are so interesting. But then when I read your comment, "...hunt for interesting shadows..." I finally noticed. And what a great shadow that completes the story - letting the imagination fill in the rest of the dancer. Well done - oh, great processing too.

Fantastic image Lorna. I think the shadow makes this image work as well as the kilt and foot motion suggesting the gracefulness of this dance but also its high energy. When I visit Cape Breton, NS I enjoy very much attending concerts where there are both Scottish an Irish dancers.

Absolutely love it. A photographer's eye to see and catch this. I always forget to concentrate on the details when shooting people, but always enjoy them when they are well done like this. The inclusion of the shadow is brilliant.

My daughter did Irish Step Dancing for a few years, and we loved going to the competitions. I know this is Scottish Dancing, but we had those in many of the same places. :toast:

This is a neat shot. I like that there's no face, only a body and the shadow. Love the flair of the kilt. It's very poetic!

Good show, here, Lorna. Love the swing of the kilt, and the shadow is the coolest thing. Celtic dancing is so energizing, I love to watch it and can never get enough of it.
In Irish dancing, when the dancers wear tap shoes on stage, it's an instant percussion section-- and session! Impossible to sit still.
