The Crossing

We found this Elephant crossing one of the many inlets on the shores of Lake Kariba. He was quite close but totally undisturbed by our presence, no doubt because we were on a boat.

Nice scene, the radiating ripples in the water are very attractive. A refreshing capture of this elephant. No nits here. :toast:

Wow! At 70 mm?! Beautiful image, Ken. I would, maybe, darken the sky and the water, especially the bit behind the elephant, to create a better mood, and bring focus onto the elephant.

The rich blues and ripples work well in accenting the composition.

I found this to be a very neat photo!! I like the angle of view and the detail in the elephants skin. I do wish the BG was a bit darker, to be it does not support the elephant photo as light as it is. Thanks for sharing.

Ken, I like this image very much...and the re-post even more-so. I'm a big Ele fan, especially when they have nice tusks and are in a cool setting - and you sure got that going on here. I assume a lower perspective was not attainable or you would have done that.....but lower and tight would have been very dramatic with those sweeping tusks. Lake Kariba you say ...that vast reservoir is on my list to explore someday. Thanks!

James,
We were pretty low as we were in a boat, getting lower would have been extremely difficult

Morkel,
I should tell you Matusadona is not the best place for game viewing, tons of Jess oblitorating the view, it is hard work, but nice and quiet
