Red Crossbill

I don't often photograph the birds that come to my feeders in the backyard. This spring though, a large flock of crossbills became irresistible. This male posed upside down on the perch that I provided, waiting it's turn on the feeder.

Canon MKIV, 600mm, f7.1, ISO 1250, 1/200, manual mode with spot meter

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Very nice pose and wonderful colors. I have been framing this species yesterday (European Crossbill) bit their plumage is not as nice as yours (even when taken into account that they are not at their best anyway this time of year). I like this one ! Cheers, Hans

A great bird to have at your feeder! Really nice pose and comp and the reflection in the eye (of your house?) is cool. Sharon

Fun pose, Ken, but I really like that it gives us a full view of the back and folded wings. Congrats on the WP.

Well, I'm a little late to the party.... but this one is excellent. The pose really makes the shot, but I like everything here. :toast:
