Hiking along the Oregon coast when this finch stopped by to check us out. He stayed a while and wasn't bothered by us being there.

Without your shooting data and a larger version, it's a bit hard to evaluate the photo, but it looks like your focus point was the tips of the spruce branches; they appear to be the sharpest. The steep angle is a bit of a negative. But your biggest problem is that there is a lot of tree and not so much bird, even after your crop.
