Tricolor Wing Dance

Many of you who photograph Reddish Erets have seen this hunting behavior, and the Tricolor is another one that also does it. I found this bird this morning, and shot a number of frames, but this is the only one where I got a clean shot in reasonably good surroundings. Cropped to 82% of original, larger image included.

I've seen this activity in Tricolors and Snowys. I've been told it was throwing a shadow on the water to get some movement from prey. Well detailed and documented. Good angle, and I appreciate the habitat.

The techs are terrific in this on Bill. Love the open beak and droplet of water. The wing position is also very nice.
