Purple martin

A photographer friend of mine invited me over to one of his friends house who has three multi-story martin houses where there are incredible opportunities to photograph the martins feeding their young with huge dragonflies. It is an exceptional setup from his deck but it seemed because our schedules did not mesh for the last couple of weeks most of the fledging was done and this evening parents were not bringing massive dragonflies back for the youngsters. Bummer.

The light looks a bit strong but you managed a beautiful bg with a nice open-mouthed pose. I would try to select just the perch and see if you could tone it down a little. Nice capture of the iridescent blue on the head. Sharon

I completely agree with Sharon's take on the image John. I hope your friend invites you back in the next couple days and you can get a few feeding shots. Good luck!

John,
I agree that the perch is definitely in need of some toning down

Good call guys, thanks! Think it's getting time to replace the old POS monitor I'm using. Not an excuse mind you as I should have viewed the image on some different boxes, it did look pretty blown on my computer at work. Thanks again.

John,
looks like you changed not only the perch on the new version, but also the area around it.
