Morning Light at Sparks

by Mark Brodkin

After several frustrating attempts to get any light at Sparks Lake, I finally got my sunrise. This shot was one of the last images captured that morning once all the colour was gone. While I wish the reflection was cleaner, I really like the pattern of the clouds on the water. I am still working on several images posted earlier that morning, and will post them shortly. Looking forward to your comments. Mark. Shot with a D800E, 14-24 @ 20mm.

Lovely photo, Mark. The reflection has a lot of detail and depth to the clouds. I enjoy seeing photos that work well in normal lighting and not another sunset or sunrise.

I am having a hard time not being distracted by your watermark, though. It detracts a lot from your images.

Thanks for sharing! :toast:

Great job composing this image, it is nice to have more of the reflection than sky. The water/cloud combination is excellent.

Great symmetry in this Mark and wonderful cloud formations. Very nice depth and processing. Beautiful image. I agree about the watermark. A little distracting.

Excellent reflection of the clouds, which are one of my favorite types. Nice comp and light, although it could probably be warmed up some. But, that is personal preference.

Wonderful reflection Mark. I don't mind the water mark, but you can make a bit more transparent.

Fantastic Mark! The clouds of course make this "reflectionscape." I really like your chose proportions too. Excellent processing, very natural color - although I detect a little purple in the open slope above the lake on the left (no biggie, just an observation.) Excellent!

Lon

edit: just realized the watermark discussion. I would agree with Youssef. If the mark is just another layer, then simply drop the opacity of that layer enough so that it's clearly visible, but less of a distraction.
