Moods in the Swamp

With so much good imagery on NPN lately, I was a bit reluctant to post this. I shot this in February at Lake Martin in southern Louisiana. Often times these comps can get a bit overcomplicated, but think I was able to get some sense of order here.

Bill, I really like this image. You certainly did a nice job with the comp too because it doesn't look to cluttered or complicated at all. I like the color and the shadows add some very nice interest here. I could see it a bit darker (maybe) but enjoy it as you have it too. Nice work!!

Man, the lower half of this is just awesome with all those great lines, light and repeating patterns. The top is very busy. I would crop almost without hesitation here if it were mine, and a pano would really sing IMO. Otherwise, I might come back here for some leaves because I think foliage up top would really help complete that aspect as another option.

The shadows on the algae are just spectacular. :wavey:
This would make a great pano with just the bottom third of capture. Well done. :toast:

Bill, I really like the way the horizontal lines on the algae offset the vertical statues of the trees. Well done.

Post away, don't be shy, Bill. Really nice light and you did an excellent job of creating some order out of the chaos. This is just my opinion of course, but if this was mine I would crop down somewhere between 1/2 and 1/3 to emphasize all those striking lines on the algae covered water.

Definitely like the long shadows on the green water Bill. To reduce some of chaos in the upper 3/4, I would be tempted to darken the mid tone quite a bit.

The shadows in the bottom are wonderful in this Bill. Also the textures and comp are very nice. Maybe a crop from top to focus more on that great algae. Really nice. :toast:

This is very cool Bill. Love the long shadows and the lines they leave across the green surface and nice balance of the trees in the frame. Good work.
