This grouping of Columbines reminded me of a family.

This is a focus stack again. 3 images at f5.6 with my 28-135mm w/macro. I used a tripod and a remote shutter release as well. I do wish I had taken 1 more slice for the back petal and spurs of the flower behind.

Exquisite image of these beautiful columbine, Morris. I like the dof management via the stack. I see nothing at all wrong with the rear petal spurs going oof as this looks perfectly natural. Excellent wildflower photography. :toast:

Morris, I am always amazed at your ability to isolate these columbines (or find isolated groupings). In my limited experience it is not easy to do so I applaud your eye to find these scenes and capture them so well. This scene is certainly no exception - wonderful composition and beautifully presented.

Morris - Actually this version is closer to reality - spurs being OOF really looks natural. Both the blooms are in pristine condition and hence adding to the aesthetics.

If anything, I might slightly darken the yellow flowers OOF in the top left quadrant but its not a deal breaker.

Very good detail, color & composition. I would tend to try darkening the yellow OOF areas top left. Nice work!

Consummate portrait, Morris ! The tones are exquisite, the composition perfect. Incidentally, I quite like the softness of the back spurs - I feel they lead the eye nicely that way into the bg, but that's just me !!

I agree, Morris, that it looks like a family portrait with the proud parents and the beautiful little baby bud. The colors are beautiful and the detail is excellent! Very nicely done!
