Rainbow Double

We've been having some dramatic sunsets here lately in the Silver Gate/Cooke City area of Montana. Here's one from a week ago on Lulu Pass, looking towards Pilot and Index Peak.

Thanks for any comments, and don't forget to view LARGER!

I have to admit that I am more than a little jealous that you get to live so close to this kind of beauty. Ok, enough of that, your image here is beautiful. I like the perspective and the light on the peaks is beautiful. Too bad about the presumably beetle killed trees but that seems to be a fact of life in the Rockies these days. :frown:

Zack, that's a very nice shot. Certainly worth making the portfolio. Great light, great conditions, great DOF. My personal prefrence is for a little more curves/sadows (dark slider to the right) and a bit less yellow and a bit more green.

Well that's pretty badass. Crazy the wind was light enough to pull that off. Nice

A double rainbow--OMG!!
Sweet, Zack--the best shots always seem to be combo of luck and skill and this is a great catch! :toast:

Fantastic catch and a great 'spur of the moment' composition, as I know how fast you have to act at these times. I would prefer the lower half to be selectively darker for a more natural light level that leads the eye through and to show off the flower colors.

Zack there is a lot going on here, so much to look at!
So much going on I was going to say a compositional tweak, because everything else appears perfect.
The rainbow is icing on the cake that simply is so spectacular, it takes a minute to settle in.
I think what would make this great image better for me is a darker vignette on the lower half, given the spectacular light up top. It's like the foreground is too light to support that wonderful light above. Hope that makes sense.

After I hit add comment, I reread what I wrote and see Marc said the same thing (basically) above. So others see the same thing. A simple tweak.

Great capture Zack. The light is magical and the landscape matches that. The foreground looks a stop too bright and washed out as a consequence.
