The ever present sunflower. I can't let the summer go by without taking some images of sunflowers. Thanks for you comments and critiques.

Very nice, Richard, with good subject detail and a nice background. I like the chosen aperture and resulting dof. As a minor point, I'd prefer if the tip of the petal at the top was not missing, so if you cropped any from the top, which I sort of doubt, you add some back.

Great detail, and I love the BG. As suggested by Scott, the clipped petal is my only nit. Well done otherwise.

Richard - Very well shot - Great details in the petals - would have been great if the petal at the top was not clipped as already mentioned, but I reckon you were shooting under some constraints I guess.

You've rendered this quite nicely, Richard. The DOF works well here to isolate the bloom from the background. The one nit that I have is that the composition is a little tight and I wish that the petals weren't cut off on the top of the frame. Otherwise, this is very nicely done!!

EDIT: I hadn't read others' comments before posting my own. I guess we are all in agreement about the cut-off petals in the top of the frame, but this is still an enjoyable image.

Others have mentioned the missing tip. Other than that, no nits. You handled the exposure perfectly and got some outstanding detail in the bargain.

Lovely, Richard. Good choices for dof and focal plane. I think I'd rather not have the uppermost petal clipped, but it doesn't really detract from the image for me.

What's summer without sunflowers? Ditto on the clip, but a nice portrait.

The details and how you handled the yellows are outstanding. I also like the empty space on the left. I would like to not have the petal at the top cut off, which has me wondering about a vertical.
