Sunset Reflection

Reflection of the sky at sunset on Back River in Boothbay, Maine. Just sitting on the dock relaxing, I noticed these amazing patterns and colors dance along the surface of the water so of course I had to grab my camera.

Canon 5DM2
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L at 70mm
ISO200 1/4sec f/11

Thanks for having a look.

I like it, Eva; the subtle colors and gradient make it work. Beautiful!

That's a lovely palette of colours Eva. Did you try a slowed down version as well I reckon that would look quite gorgeous too.

This is a really cool shot Eva! It is very calm and smooth, and I love how the different colors and textures interact.

Love that reflected light and color. The hint of the rocks below the surface adds a nice touch as well. Nicely composed and captured. :toast:

Thanks all!

Hi Ian - I did not try a slower shutter speed but we'll be up there this weekend so I'll it try then if the light is right..... maybe with the Pentax too if the conditions are right. The dock is a floating dock due to the 10 - 12 foot tides on this tidal river and the dock moves quite a bit especially if there is boat traffic. Maybe it will produce an effect similar to your Vaseline technique.Thanks.

The diagonal gradient of the color works well for this abstract overall, Eva. The water slight movement is just right too.

Very nice abstract. The color, patterns and texture of the water work very well together.

Eva, I sure know that feeling while sitting on the dock and then going to grab the camera. I would have done it for this one too. Very nice display of light, color and textures. :toast:
